Jo,

Fantastic Job! Thanks for all the efforts you've put to update the Website and to coordinate all the efforts.

You are 'THE HERO' of the show.

Nishant - Welcome aboard ! And Divya - you have breatherd life into lyrics. Well done !

Pradip - I am suffering from repetitive stress injury now of having pressed the mouse click over and over your song. I am glad to see I am proven wrong when I said your pre-relelase version did not enthuse me as much. But Kaushiji's voice has blended with your voice as a honey would with milk. I am absolutely in love with this song now. I am happy to be just a listener (sic..our convo :) ) Ajay - you must be gloating as most of your songs are being made in to tunes

Jo - Vidyu:

aaaah...I am proud of my bro who has brought not only a new definition for blog albums but continues to excel in singing in each and every occasion. Vidyu, Fantastic singing although it bordered a bit on the classical side. Well, I really enjoyed it thoroughly since I like classical based romance songs. Anile chEtta, I infer you did a great job in orchestrating and mixing.

Nandu - kalakkittE machchan - and so has Ramesh ! Only when I thought I was going to be served all sweet, comes this cracker of a spicy mix - It was just the injection of adrenaline and caffeine that I needed at that point !

OOyalaaduNNi and ennachu - good renditions by Meera - but your voice seems to have been lost in the depths of orch'n. good job Ajit and Sam.

Thoduvaanam - complex string arrangements and brilliant lyrics. Very soulfully rendered song by Mux. You shine both as a composer and singer. I dont know why your song is not fully available

Very happy to see the songs of you all !!!!

Wonderful job BLS 2 Team! Think Hai Mera and Mella Mella stand out for the professional quality of music, singing orchestra and mixing! Also hearing chaste Urdu since a long time. Kudos to Ajay. Swati and Divya among females and Pradeep and Jo among males are my best picks among singers.
Guys u rock!

Anonymous said...

Hai Junoon, Hai Mera and Mella Mella are exceptional. Rest are o.k. Voice is very low in Ooyalaadu.

Anonymous said...

Hey Guys...fantastic effort, all the songs are just awesome. Cant stop listening to Hai mera dil and Mella Mella.. Hai Junoon was totally different too..

Kiranz..!! said...

Its really a fabulous team work again.JO,congratz for anchoring the same. Its good to analyze that we improved every part with the second version, the quality of the songs, lyrics, the orchestration and the singers.

All songs can be rated above 3 of 5..Since i love slow songs,my fav pick is "Ooyalaadunni".But Meera's voice should be amplified a bit more.Orchestration part of Melle melle,Hai mera dil, violin piece from Bhavya,Jo's magic voice,Nandu's style of singing,Indu's lyrics...wowowo..!

You guyz really rock..!

First of all hats of to all the members of this album. Hai mera Dil is just like hearing a hindi film song.Awesome melody and arrangement. Great singing swati and pradip. both sing like unbeatable pros. bhavya was awesome on the violin.divya sang very well in ente manasilum. jo was brilliant in mella mella.vidyu was off key in the end. again professional quality background score for this song.hai junoon was full of power.ramesh chellamanni rocks.ooyaladunni could have been better if mixed well and was little bit let down with unhearable voice of meera.orchestra is just average.thoduvanam was good in orchestra, but singing was off key at many places by mux. anitha's singing is very average.ennachu is just hearable.since i do not know tamil, hai mera dil stood out in lyrical quality. ajay is film material.

Anonymous said...

Mella mella was very well sung and orchestrated. Hai mera dil is like listening to a Ballet! Am speechless at the melody, violin solo and singing.Tamil songs were little bordering on the current trends which I do not digest.Uhaya's lyrics werre the sole comfort.Overall great work and laudable effort.

Anonymous said...

Superb effort Blogswara Team..My observations
1)Ente manasilum starts off well but becomes repetitive....divya has done a decent job.
2)Jo and vidyu have rendered mella mella with elan. orchestra by anil is also professional stuff.
3)Hai mera was cinematic stuff. think such songs should be used in films and not wasted here.No words to express the technical excellence and singing of swati and pradeep. Each minute part is balanced well. The best song in all aspects by professional standards.Cannot but listen in awe to the brialliant efforts of bhavya and william.
4)Hai junoon gives the right balance to this album chellamani rocks!!!But some parts voice is diffused, off pitch and words not clear. But awesome though.
5)Ooyaladunni caould have been brilliant, but is badly balanced. Meera's singing and lyrical beauty stands out.Tabla tone could have been kep a little more lower.
6)The starting humming is off pitch and could be more refined. But song is too complicated to regiister in mind.It seems like an aerobic excercise. It also stops suddenly?
7) Ennachu starts off well. Meera is excellent in this song. Reminds me of another old Ilayaraja song. But is a very good song.
Overall fantastic effort. This is definitely an impovement over Blogswara 1. Jo you are the hero.

Overall a superlative effort. Mella Mella was awesome. Thoduvanam was complicated to understand.Rest all fine. One that lingers on and on is Hai Mera Dil.Wonderful work. Kudos guys!

I think a few songs-- Mella Mella, Ente manasilum , Ooyalaadunni and Ennachu have been re-uploaded now after tweaking it based on inputs.

Thanks Nandu for taking care of it :)

Anonymous said...

Hai Mera Dil is the superb song in the list, especially due to the violin solo by Bhavya and excellent orcheastrisation by Pradip. My hearty congrats to each and every one who worked behind this song.

Anonymous said...

Did not understand the lyrics at all but hey mera dil touched my heart. All the songs are okie.best wishes for a big future

Anonymous said...

my choice in order
1)hai mera dil
2)mella Mella
3)ente manassilum
4)hai Junoon
5)Thoduvaanam
6)Ooyaladunni
7)Ennachu
Overall good album considering the amateur hands, but hai mera is blemishless and hummable right after one listen.lyrics are powerful and singing and music out of this world. as someone said this sure is cinematic stuff.
keep the spirit guys.

I didn't listen to the whole album... but a lil bit of Ooyaladunni...( I am at work) its brilliant, cheers to Jo and Vidyu. I am pretty sure the rest of the songs are as good. I will be listening the rest at home tonight. Anyways good job and great concept. I know this is not the end and cheers to all who were involved in this project. May God bless you all.

Awesome job !
I think songs are bit more livelier when compared to BLSWARA I .
"Hai Junoon", "Mella Mella" and violin by Bhavya stands out.

Anonymous said...

Wow. Congratulations everyone.

Hai mera dil was awesome. Especially the solo violin piece was stunning. This song is my pick.

Mella mella song - Jo's voice is amazing as usual. But the song sounds very similar to Chennai senthamizh song from Kumaran s/o mahalakshmi movie.

Ooyaladunni song- I have heard the one without music by meera. That was awesome. For some reason this version has too many distracting ting ting noises. Meera has done a wonderful job.

Overall, all the songs are good and kudos to everyone.

Anonymous said...

The best song in all respects of singing, music, lyrics and mixing is Hai mera dil.Melody reigns supreme. Next one is Mella mella. Rest are just average. but the concept and album as a whole are fine.pradip jo and swati shine in singing, and as many have said bhavya's violin interludes steal the whole show.she is just awesome.

Anonymous said...

Great job! really why can't youall realease a blog swara album???

Thx really enjoyed new talents are great even though only I know Pradip through internet. everyone well done great

Gr8 co-ordination guys, cool thought into the venture ...
However, should point out -- the hindi songs 've a mallu-touch, which i'm sure, u'd already 've noticed. Tfy to bring up a fusion song, multi-linguistic --
Gr8 effort n enthusiasm -- keep it up!

Hi guys
Great team work .as a music lover i must congratulate u .. weldone

Anonymous said...

shanker mahadevan, hariharan all sing with clear Tamil accents but still nobody dares to speak of them. I did not feel any dishonour in listening to these bunch of talented youngsters just because it was done by mallus. When udit narayans and sadhana sargams destroy Tamil music, someone like ajay who is a mallu writing in chaste urdu and someone like pradip singing perfect urdu is is highly commendable.Again swati kanitkar is not mallu! Just take Hai mera dil is top quality pro work which itself is fusion with the pure carnatic classical violin and western piano flowing like honey. So again the need for fusion is far fetched. It's ignorance which is evident in this comment. This is perfect fusion of carnatic music, urdu, western classical and hindi ego! Hat's off to you guys. Am here due to the hindu article on blogswara which I saw today.

Anonymous said...

Also who gave the notion that hindi songs should be always dumb, fast and furious? When south and north join hands with the likes of A.R.R, Shanker, Hariharan, Udit, sadhana, sonu..there is no malu or hindi music.only good or bad music.hey, are you living in the stone age??

Sindhuja Bhakthavatsalam said...

I have no words for this stupendous effort and enthusiasm you guys show.
Each song shows such mastery!
Mella mella and Hai mera dil remain my picks (since the time the teasers were released).
Some songs have such elaborate and grand orchestration that they leave you wondering whether its actually the instruments part or the vocals parts of the song that are the 'inter'ludes :) I feel Mella mella is one such. Awesome, awesome music!
And Jo-what a voice!!! Vidyu's singing could have been slightly less carnatic, but its wonderful, nevertheless. I'm addicted to this song now.Truely classy stuff, although couldn't help getting reminded of the first 2 lines of the stanzas in Pon maalai pozhudhu (naaLum enakkoru sEthi tharum (forget the first line) in manthiram pOttAi uNarnthEn and the next line :)
Hai mera dil is simply amazing too. Mind blowing violin.Pradipji has again proven that it doesn't take a complicated/ difficult song to qualify as a GREAT song...the simplicity just shines through in this song. 'Beauuuutiful' is all I can say. Great, great fusion of Carnatic, Western with Urdu lyrics, like someone else has pointed out.Fabulous singing by both him and Swati.Have just been listening to this song like crazy...!
Also like Meera's singing a lot in Ooyaladunni.
Rather than calling this a 'waste' of talent like someone else has, I think work like Blogswara should be treated on par with the music in films/albums.Why should this be seen as something in any way 'lesser' than Bollywood/Kollywood...?? Its about time that people sit up and listen to such music. You guys are redefining music production in the new age...Its really wonderful to learn that Hindu has featured this album, and Vikatan did, the previous one. I feel something must be done to make this just as public and popular as film music.
Kudos to all of you. Already looking forward to the next release! :)

Mella Mella and hai mera dil are the best.Jo,pradip and swati sang their hearts out. Meera's malayalam has a tamil slang in ooyaladu, but singing is fine. Ente manasil was sung well by divya but song is jut like ay many malayalam songs.Hai junoon was also hearable but like many other v channel songs. Thoduvanam was unnecessarily complicated and failed to do what it was intended to do.Ooyaladu though a nice tune fails to carry on sams shoulder.Ennachu was like listening to a tamil ad song and was too ameteurish.Overall a good effort. Since this is mostly amateur work should be complimented. Among orchestration Haimera dil followed by Mella Mella stand out. Specially appealing was bhavya and williams work.I also liked the intricate bells and counters used by pradip.

Anonymous said...

Fantastic. All the songs are very good. My favorite is Mella Mella for its melody, vocals and arrangment. Jo has a professional voice.

Keep up the good work

Hai mera dil and mella mella are miles ahead than the so called junk offered today in music channels. you guys have really worked hard.voices orchestra mixing lyrics everything is top class in the above songs.pradip jo and swati have crooned like pros.violin in hai mera was just awesome.rest of the songs are just o.k

Mr. N Venkitu, I had not made any personal attacks. You can ask the moderator who removed the comment. I just said that most of the comments are only from the people who are connected with this album and praising each other. This album only lives now in a virtual world of moastly it's creators and friends. When u try to get this to the real professional world u will know where u stand. Amateur and professional world are only different in that pro's live with music. you don't. This is not an excuse for coming up with un professional work. Talent is talent whether professional or amateur. Music is either good or bad.If you cannot take criticism then how can u survive? I again repeat that this is just kindergarten stuff. You have a long way to go.Accept it.Don't live in a well.

I do not care what some anonymous says. Guys you really rock! Hai mera was mind blowing! Everything about it including singing lyrics orchestra the captivatin violin pieces were fantastic. Hat's of to pradip and team. Mella Mella was also awesome. Jo reminds me of unnimenon with his mallu accent in tamil. the orchestra was terrific. Of the rest hai junoon was o.k. Overall great effort. where do I hear blogwara 1?

Dear Anonymous,

Thanks again. I appreciate your thoughts as a member of the Blogswara team.

People like you - ie critics - are the ones that make Ph.d's out of Kindergarteners. Please remember that.

My only question to you. Please be detailed and go ahead and comment on every song so that we can know how unprofessional we were.

You Wrote 'This is not an excuse for coming up with un professional work' and all I want ( request) is a list of what you feel is unprofessional.

I get reminded of a quote in my Boss's desk 'Once you reach perfection there is no room for growth'.

As a creatore myself and a member of the blogswara team I'll thankyou out of my heart if you can do that.

Again, thanks for your thoughts. I truly appreciate it.

anonymous, first understand that music itself is subjective. so you cannot determine what is good for the ear for somone else. your judgement is not common opinion.the songs may vary in the variety as they were done by different people, and not as in a single album where generally only one music director scores music.I do not think that songs such as hai mera dil and mella mella are anyway inferior to any of the crap you hear on V and MTV. They are even much much higher in standards. Hey are u blind to the different comments by people from various aspects of life? This itself is a crossection of the general public u speak of. Do not pour cold water on enthusiasm.I salute the efforts of the Blogswara team and wish them further success in their ventures to come.

Great effort to collaborate and create magic. How this blog revolution has gave birth to myriads of jewels that continues to create new paths in this fragile world of ours. And these paths give voice to the cultures and talents of the netizens. Each song has a great view of the writers and singers. As I only understand the Tamil songs, I have to say they are great works on par if not better than any song I have heard before. I wish everyone involved all the best, and wish for Blogswara collabs in the future. There will always be someone appreaciating your God gifted works.

Jo/Venkitu, had just a couple of thoughts in addition to the comments I had posted earlier about your work. You guys put in a lot of effort to make this happen, I am throwing my 2 cents on what could be changed or tweaked so that the effort could be better conveyed across. Of course these are just personal opinions.

1. I think in the songs download section page, a couple of lines describing the mood/theme of the song from the composer/performer could be helpful, especially for listeners not familiar with the language of that particular song. Although for most of the songs the music itself strongly hints at the mood/theme, I think an added brief note would give us a perspective/insight into the mind of the composers and what they sought about to achieve.

2. I guess Tamil/Hindi/Malayalam have been the only languages in which songs have been done so far, which is understandable considering the blogswara team members backgrounds. Maybe next time if you guys are going to host 8 songs or so, there can be a couple each in Hindi/Tamil and then atleast one each from Telugu/Kannada along with the other languages. Songs in English needn't be shied away from either, once in a while.

3. I notice that if I classify these songs under different musical genres, atleast 3-4 of the 7 songs in each album would fall into the melody/slow-paced genre. Especially more so with blogswara 1.It might lend a touch of monotony to the album. When you are doing only 7 songs, you can easily ask the different composers to try their hands in different genres. For example, a techno fast-paced number, a solo melody, a fast-paced duet, a semi-classical, a folk number, a ghazal and so on. It might help showcase versatility and also keep the listeners engaged throughout, rather than losing a little bit of interest after the 5th song or so after finding its another slow-paced melody. Also, since its just 7 or 8 songs as much as possible you can try avoiding having the same singer singing 2 songs or more. For instance Meera Manohar has sung in 3 songs I think. Not that I have anything against her voice/singing but I believe you guys should be able to easily find 7 or 8 unique singers from all the abundant talent out there, with atleast 2 of them being fresh voices or intros.

These are just a few random thoughts I had. Will chip in with more if I think of anything else.

Though the suggestions given by Vijay are excellent, I differ in his observations regards to this album. There indeed is variety.
1) Ente manassil-is typical malayalam medium paced solo melody
2) Hai mera- Slow Ghazal
3) Mella mella- fast paced semi classical number
4)Hai junoon- very fast paced song
5)Ooyalaadunni- slow taharattu
6) Thoduvanam- Techo number
7) Ennachu- medium paced melody

So you can find only two slow numbers here hai mera and ooyaladu. A folk could be added..I do agree that meera sings three songs and more singers could be given oppurtunities. But total composition of album is balanced.

Narayanan ,Good Job,i did not no,about this hidden talent.Heard the song Mella Mella ,it was good.Eventhough song credit mostly goes to the singers, people should understand the efforts made by the lyricis & the music.

>> Vijay: Thanks for the comments Vijay. As Sreejith pointed out, we have tried to keep the variety. But we will concentrate more onto blend as much as genres as possible.

As for the other languages we are open to include many many more Indian languages (not only south Indian languages) and English ones. The thing is we need people who writes well in other Indian languages and English. As soon as we get them, we will include them for sure.

Also we have noted your comment about the singers. We will include more variety of singers in the coming album.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Dear Anonymousjee,

As an audio blogger,I would like to answer the comments you have made.

1. "Most of the comments are only from the people who connected with this album " :- Dear friend, blogswara has not published any ad'z on any media for the release of these albums, and the real advertisement works through friends and the people who connected to this work. But the media itself published various articles about this team work.

2."This album lives in a virtual world of its creators and friends " :- If you could have the patience to see the site counters and the comments from various people not even from the blog world, this comment could have avoided.

3."Professionals live with music and amateurs dont " :- Jee,the blogswara home page itself giving you a clear objective of this effort " these are not meant for any commercial goals", but it doesn't sounds as an excuse for releasing unprofessional stuff .If you look at the professional world of musicians, how many songs will justify the money you paid for buying a cassete or a music CD ?.Any professional musician will least accept the quality of these songs are worth above that. The a unique factor for the blogswara team is the "team work",they havn't met physically, like the real professionals gathers around a place to produce the music. They have made this album just through online.People should salute this effort of gathering people online to made this album real.

4."This is just a kindergarten stuff" :- Like Mr.Narayanan Venkitu said,if the initial attempts reaches the peak, then where you look at to grow ?.This is just the second version of blogswara and they are just building up a platform for the upcoming versions. As far as my experience with audio blogs, the criticism will defly help to go forward and correct the errors. Please don't make a flat comment on the album as a whole, they can make it better if you could have analyze each songs and point out where they loose the professional quality.Without that, your comment sounds like an investement of personal ego on a group of people's creative work.

Dear Jo/Venkitu jee, Please don't allow anonymous access for comments. The comments from people who can't show their identity not even with a name will not help going forward ,rather than wasting your creative time answering these *&%&*..!!

Refreshing and impressive music. Especially liked the songs hai mera, mella lella and ente manassilum. Hai mera was characterised by brilliant vocals music and balancing. It was like a spiritual journey to heaven.Mella mella was amazing due to the awesome orchestra of anil and voice of jo. Jo u should keep an eye on your voice when you sing at high parts.should put in more control in fast sangathis. Vidyu could have been more lighter.Ooyaladuni though a great tune was too repitative.Meera was very good in this song.Hai junor was just ordinary.I did not like thoduvanam as it had bad vocals.Ennachu also did not have anything fresh to give.On an ending note, bhavya's violin was the best part of it all.she stole the show.

Heard 2 songs from the collection. Yet to hear the rest. "Ennachu" was very nice composition and lyrics was nice match for the song.

Meera, You voice is awesome and suited very well for that song.

Dear Preethy (Indu!),

I started crying after listening to Ooyalatunni. Very touching. I wanted to post this comment on the website than just tell you, because this should go to to the whole team that created such a beautiful piece.

I always used to prefer bare-functional mobile phones. I am now going to buy one which supports MP3 ringtones and put your song on it.

Cheers!

I would like to post my Malayalam Lyrics in Blogswara. How to do that? Pls explain in detail.

Anonymous said...

I agree with anonymous.some of his comments are eye openers.
Hai mera dil was stolen or rather inspired from swasithin talam from malayalm film achuvinte amma. Please produce some original stuff amateur or professional. pradip is a good singer but i have doubts about his urdu diction. He has an element of south indian accent which is rather obvious.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Anonymous. For every good things done by some guys some bastards act as the destructors. You are one. You might not even have sung or composed a song of your own in your own life and yet u comment as if you have a doctorate in music. Hai mera dil is just similar in raga to swasathin thalam you fool. The tune is entirely different and so is the rhythm.Any one who has heard swasthin thalam can understand this. The urdu diction of pradip is as perfect as it can be. It's just ur false ego of not being able to do anything creative yourself makes you give such foolish remarks. keep your mouth shut if you do not even have the guts to disclose even your name. People like u who have yellow livers and remain anonymous are the disgrace of the society.

Anonymous said...

And even if a south indian born singer has a little bit of south accent in his hindi what is the harm? You are not giving any new information here. Shanker Mahadevan and Hariharan have it! Go and comment about them too.You are really sick, you yellow livered anonymous fool.

Anonymous said...

Hey, I do not agree with anonymous comment on pradip's urdu. I am from U.P and do know urdu myself. He sure has a feeble south accent, but his urdu is better than even some of the playback singers in bolywood.Diction is perfect, very clear and each word is pronounced with full understanding of the meaning. The lyrics are also extremely good.VCannot comment on authenticity of the tune, but I like it very much. Hai junoon sure had some wrong pronounciations but was enjoyable too. Overall very nice work.

Anonymous said...

I agree with sreejith. The song hai mera dil has the same ragam as swasathin thalam. But the treatment is totally different. Bhavya's violin and singing by swati and pradeep were just awesome. The tune is totally differen in pallavi, ananupalllavi and charanam. I think anonymous is just a trouble creator and does not know the abc of music.take the song tandannam taanannam from yatra. In this song even the pallavi is ditto the song from sound of music. This was by Ilayaraja.jeena yahan marna yahan was all from western classical music.Vennila chandana kinnam of Vidyasagar was inspired by rahmans chinna chinna asai. almost all great composers were inspired by others. even today m jayachandran copies shamelessly from western and old malayalam tunes tunes and uses illayaraja's tunes as his inspiration. Even you anonymous are not original. you are product of your father and your mother's inspiration. art itself is inspired. there is no music or any art without inspiration.Only a fool can suggest otherwise. Regarding urdu, I think this anonymous guy is just jealous of the appreciation for this song and Blogswara in particular given by so many people. He has not spoken anything about any other song and nothing about technical or singing aspects. so shows that he is just an ignorant person here for mischief. Such people who do not give any creative inputs should be stopped from giving such silly comments.Blogawara Team, just ignore such foolish remarks. Go on full Throttle to BlS 3!

Gopu said...

Liked the idea. You people need a applause. Keep it up friends.

Song Mella Mella is really good music. Some songs have influences of mainstream south indian music, so not mentioning the songs consciously.

Congrats and all the best.

all song are nice. jo etta. mella mella was super.pradeepetta, hai mera dil was also fantastic.Ooyaladunni was magical. Your efforts shoud be appreciated.Do not go by some silly comments.Expecting more such songs.

Friends, as you know the BlogSwara members welcome any CREATIE CRITICISM on our venture and work, but we CANNOT allow the mud-slinging without any basis. So we are enabling comments moderation from now on. Please feel free to post your comments, negative or positive which would help us to examine our work and come up with better work. Thank you all for your support.

Mad Max said...

Been caught up with work for some time now...ive heard all the songs multiple number of times and I think this is an excellent effort...compared to BLS 1 we have come miles in terms of arrangement...I'm not good technically to rank the songs but my overall opinion is that this is indeed a job done exceptionally well...

now to some issues here

@Anonymous: An interesting aspect about your comments is that you are afraid to come out with your identity. Now that makes me think that you are either pissed at not being part of this project or that your are grossly incapable of doing something close to this. Therefore as an "attention monger", you have resorted to unsavoury comments.

Now even for a moment if we are to assume that songs are copied (which is obviously not the case here), dont professionals copy??? ARR, Ilayaraja, Anu Malik you name them and we can show songs which are lifted (in your definition that is). Therefore this obviously tells us that your skill level and basic sense in music is rather limited.

But that is of course no fault of yours. People have different skills. Some are good at music while poor at art and vice versa. Obviously your level of talen in music is very limited, if not please do come out into the open and prove your credentials.

Therefore just like you suggested that we have to learn to live with it, maybe we should recommend that you should learn to live with your limitations too.

Anonymous said...

Blogswara Team, wondrful effort! I liked all the songs. Each one has its own charm. If Hai mera dil was enchanting and melodius, hai junoon was powerful. Mella Mella was vibrant.Ooyaladunni was like a magical journey.Thoduvanam was also wonderful in arrangements. There is no similarity of tune of hai mera dil with swasathin talam. just the raga.there are hundreds of songs in same ragas. that does not make it copies.Seems anonymous is just looking for attention here. The hindi of pradeep is perfect.I am in fact amazed to know that he is from kerala.he is very talented indeed. Great going boys. keep upthe tempo.

A true music lover will always look out for the positive aspects of a song. When we hear Gori Tera, dheere dheere, maana ho tum, chaand akela of yesudas we never speak of how bad his accent or pronounciation is. we speak of the voice, technical perfection and beauty of the song.accent is very trivial.hariharan or shankar mahadevan still have that tamil accent in their hindi songs. it's in their blood .this is very evident in words like hamara, especially with shankar.A punjabi will have a punjabi accent, bihari will have bihari accent, bengali will have bengali accent and malayali will have malayali accent and tamilian will have tamil accent.if every one had just concentrated on accents then songs like kadale, kadali chenkadali, manasa maine varu, and all the hit songs of udit narayan, sadhana sargam, madhusree, shreya ghosal in tamil and telugu would never have been noticed.Music transcends the barrier of languages. After hearing an awesome song, just giving an opinion on accent is immature stupid and trivial and shows very low musical capabilities. I hope blogswara team has the maturity to ignore such comments and go forward. Also words like bastard, fool should be censored.those who comment should maintain dignity. I like this venture by this young group of enterprising musicians.I wish them all the best.Good to see professionals like pradip and anil here to help you.

Prem Abraham said...

Here is my take on the comments on Pradip's song being similiar to an exisiting malayalam song.

To begin with the commentator has to realize that music cannot be created in a vaccum. All music creation is inspired by another. I'm not rooting for a blatant copying of a melody or a motif, but would like to emphasize the fact that a composer has to use something to base his creation. For example we as listeners appreciate a song when it is based on a raagam, and it is considered good to use as many motifs as possible from a raagam. Even though there is no good way of defining a raagam, when we base a song on it "we are reusing the motif/musical phrase". The same holds good for any genre(pronunced as zhänr) of music.

Having said that, I believe we should allow comments of this type also. It allows the listeners to express their thoughts which includes some of the myths that are out there and it also gives us a chance to respond to it in a manner which would help in breaking it. After all listeners do not have that liberty with mainstream music makers and so let's take up that responsibility also; which I believe is a good thing for the concept called Blogswara !!.

Peace and Love
Prem.

wow! Excellent work by all standards.liked hai mera dil extremely. It has all the elements to qualify as a film song.lyrics, music, singing and technical excellence.mella malla was also top class work again. The next song that I liked was ooyaladunee.Don't know whay there is a big commotion here about accent and tune.hai mera dil is totally different in all aspects from what it is compared to.just take the violin bit.it was marvellous.hey guys A.R Rehman sings hindi with tamil accent, his protege naresh iyer sings with heavy tamil accent and sung almost all songs in R.D.B...so what is this foolish debate all about? Anyway pradip is miles ahead in accent and pronounciation of either of them! Do not waste time over this loose talk..Go ahead.

Congrats on V2 release to all Blogswara contributors. I really liked the melody of Ooyalaadunni and Mella Mella. Initial programming and melody in Thoduvaanam (prior to the first interlude) is nice too.

A late entrant to the audioblogger world here (chanced upon it actually, through Jo's blog)..being a music lover and small time singer, my heart fills with so much joy to see these forms of culmination and expression of diverse talents outside the conventional and commercial music world..
Coming to the album, ive been listening to this in bits and pieces for a while, based on Jo's updates to me, finally took the time to listen to the album in entirety, now going through reruns..the album is a well laid out mix of slow-medium melody, semi-classical, techno songs..lyrics, music/orchestration and singing are definitely above average overall..mella mella, hai mera dil stand out..probable areas of improvement, for certain songs, vocals could be made more prominent from the orchestration, especially 'Ooyaladunni', 'Ennachu' and 'Hai Junoon'..Overall, an impressive album..keep up the good work team..
